Frequently asked questions

  • No. And yes. But no. I hate doing taxes, so I don’t.

I will, however file state and federal payroll taxes, sales taxes, 8300s and 1099s for your business cuz I have systems that deliver for those.

I can refer you to someone for your income taxes if you need, but it’s very personal. You have to like and trust them for real. Audition a few, (just a quickie phone consult) until you find one that really suits you and your specific life situation. If all they want to talk about is filing tax returns and not planning or strategy, just know that you could do better.

Spring for a tax accountant that is a real CPA. They will file tax returns and advise your tax strategy. Get an expert bookkeeper to line things up for your tax accountant, so you don’t spend a fortune unnecessarily.

  • Different bookkeepers have their own service menus, but here we do sorting, recording & reporting of your business financial transactions from period to period.

  • That’s a “yes, and…” with a BIG “AND…”

Sustainable businesses could and probably should think about EVs and solar, but sustainability is literally the ability to sustain.

For a business to sustain, it has to honor stakeholder relationships in 3 areas:

    1. Profits

    2. Planet

    3. People

Most of the people I deal with have no problem with numbers 2 & 3. I mostly help with number 1, strategizing profits in ways that honor people & the planet.

  • Your bookkeeping has to be done no matter how small your business, or you are glitterally flying your business spaceship through space with no navigation data.

You may not need me, but you need bookkeeping done in bookkeeping software.

  • Try Xero. I know people love Quickbooks for whatever reason, but I find it kinda ugly and clunky. I have a ton of QB experience and certifications, but I don’t prefer to use it.

Xero is robust enough, but not too complicated. There is a ton of help and how-to info in the platform, so you can learn a lot as you go.

  • Of course you can. It’s not that hard if you have a little guidance. You can always DIY your books, then have me or your CPA review it periodically. Lots of advice on this subject in my book. Jus’ sayin.

  • Yes of course. Bring your shoebox or bag or whatever, and we can organize it, record all of the financial transactions, and send you home with expertly organized files, tidy reports, and and more holistic understanding of your business.

  • I only charge hourly rates in the setup/cleanup phase, and I do so by requiring that you prepay for 10 hours of work at $95/hour. I record my time and deduct from your balance as I do the work.

Everything else I do is based on a flat fee or a percent of yield that we’ll determine together when your setup/cleanup work is done.
